LUNCH AND RECESS VOLUNTEERS

Every day, parents, guardians, and grandparents volunteer to help our School Aides to support the youngest children at lunch and recess. 

Each month, trained volunteers will go to Sign Up Genius and put select the dates they wish to help in the cafeteria and recess.  You'll get an email from the site prompting you to put in your dates.  You can even switch with other volunteers if you need to change.  Note, only those volunteers in the invited group can access the system.  If you are a trained lunch volunteer and cannot get onto the sign up form, please contact Joan.

If you have never helped out in the cafeteria and would like to train to help at lunch and recess, please contact Joan Bredthauer at 718-330-9322, EXT 1103, or jbredthauer2@schools.nyc.gov.   We need general support for the children to open packets and milk cartons, to tie shoes, etc.  We also need one volunteer at each lunch period to serve salad from our salad bar.  A fall training session will be announced shortly.

RUN A RECESS CLUB LEADER FOR WINTER 2012  (January 23 through March 23)

Recess clubs (aka Lunch clubs) meet once a week for 10 weeks during the recess portion of lunch. We are seeking parent volunteers to design and run clubs for up to 8 students. Club ideas can be any fun activity that interests you and you think would interest our students.

Previous clubs have included Knitting, Latin, French, Cheerleading, Board Games, First Aid, "All About Real Princesses", Photography and more.

Clubs meet during the recess portion of the lunch hour, see times below.

Kindergarten, 11:40 to 12:10
First Grade, 12:40 to 1:10
Second Grade, 11:10 to 11:40
Third Grade, 12:10 to 12:40
Fourth Grade, 11:10 to 11:40
Fifth Grade, 12:10 to 12:40
